Currency Exchange

To ensure I get the best Currency Exchange rates when on all inclusive holidays or vacations, I always track some rates using comparison sites. I also look at what are the best cards to use whilst abroad. These ensure I get the best exchange rate and that I don't get hit with lots of unforseen bank charges when I return. Always check the small print in your banks T&C's and avoid using cards which have lots of charges. These can include an international handling fee, an international ATM cash withdrawal fee, a poor currency exchange rate, and even a percentage charge for the intermediary (for example VISA). All these charges will add up and put a significant amount onto your final holiday bill so make sure you get the best card before you go. The Post Office Credit card normally has the best exchange rates, and the lowest fees and charges, so make sure you apply for one before you travel. If you are using a credit card abroad, make sure you pay the card off on returning home to ensure you won't get charged interest on the balance. If you prefer to travel with cash, then travellers cheques are the safest option. Make sure you record the cheque numbers and leave them with someone at home, or email them to yourself, should you need to access them whilst abroad, just check your inbox. Like anything bank or money related, its always best to shop around to get the best currency exchange rates and ensure you make your money go further. I found some useful information and tips here.
